Mississippi Dept of Environmental Quality
Water Quality Testing Results

Pearl Riverkeeper is mapping the MDEQ Water Chemistry and Bacteriological Monitoring data from the Pearl River watershed.  This map includes:
  • Data downloaded from EPA STORET database for MDEQ's 4 fixed Mississippi Ambient Bridge Monitoring Stations and 6 fixed Fecal Monitoring Stations.  (MDEQ uploads its data to the EPA STORET database on an annual basis. Latest data available through 2019.)
  • Data from Pearl River Valley Water Supply District Bacteriological Monitoring program on the Ross Barnett Reservoir
  • Data from periodic MDEQ "Jackson Segment" Bacteriological Monitoring
This map allows users to view trends in Pearl River water quality over time.

Disclaimer: Pearl Riverkeeper created this map to allow citizens to explore MDEQ water testing data in the Pearl River watershed. The data in this map was obtained from the EPA STORET database, MDEQ and PRVWSD.  Pearl Riverkeeper is not liable for inaccuracies, subsequent updates, or omissions of data.  The information on this map is for informational purposes only and is not updated on a frequent basis.  Any user of this map assumes responsibility for its use.  Suggestions for improvement or error notifications are welcome.

All sites monitored are natural waterbodies and contaminants are present from a wide variety of sources.  Local conditions fluctuate, sometimes rapidly, especially after rainfall events.
The results displayed above are only representative of the exact time, date and location at which the sample was taken and do not represent the water quality between sampling events or at other locations nearby on the river. Users of this data should not assume that a “low” E. coli level means that it is necessarily safe or risk-free to make contact with the water. E. coli is not the only contaminant of concern for recreational users, and is used merely as an indicator of potential fecal contamination. Pearl Riverkeeper, their employees, and agents can provide no guaranty of water safety and, as such, the user assumes all risks associated with the use of this data and swimming in the Pearl River Basin. SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK!
